About Alice in Wonderland Attraction 6002412

Alice in Wonderland Attraction is an unusual Disney Traditions design that takes its inspiration not simply from Disney's Alice in Wonderland, but from the classic Alice in Wonderland attraction at Disneyland Park.

The figurine shows Alice seated inside one of the attraction's wonderfully distinctive Caterpillar ride vehicles. Alice holds the safety bar as the enormous pink and purple Caterpillar leads the way, recreating one of the most recognisable features of the Disneyland ride.

Designed by Jim Shore for Disney Traditions, the piece combines the colourful world of Alice in Wonderland with Shore's characteristic carved-effect textures, geometric patterns and folk-art detailing.

Production History

Alice in Wonderland Attraction was introduced in 2018 as part of the Disney Traditions collection.

The design was produced by Enesco and carries product number 6002412, which can also be seen on the original underside label.

The piece was inspired specifically by the Alice in Wonderland attraction at Disneyland Park, giving it an interesting crossover between a traditional character figurine and a Disney Parks collectible.

It has since been retired and is no longer part of the current Disney Traditions range.

As a hand-painted design, individual examples may show small variations in colour and finish.

Special Features of Alice in Wonderland Attraction

The Disneyland connection is perhaps the most distinctive feature of this piece, with Jim Shore recreating the attraction's colourful Caterpillar ride vehicle in miniature.

Notable features include:

  • Alice seated inside the attraction vehicle
  • The Caterpillar's wonderfully exaggerated pink and purple face
  • A separate metal safety bar across the ride vehicle
  • Alice's classic blue dress, white apron and black hair ribbon
  • Purple scrollwork around the sides of the vehicle
  • Geometric folk-art patterns decorating the ride car
  • Carved-effect textures throughout the sculpture
  • A predominantly pink, lavender and purple colour palette

Design Details

The Caterpillar dominates the front of the design, with his enormous head, drooping expression and curling details immediately drawing the eye.

Behind him sits Alice, beautifully recreated in her familiar blue and white dress. Her bright expression contrasts wonderfully with the Caterpillar's rather less enthusiastic face!

The sides of the attraction vehicle feature geometric patterns associated with Jim Shore's distinctive folk-art style, while deeper purple scrollwork frames Alice's seat.

One particularly interesting detail is the safety bar, which is made separately from the main resin sculpture and helps give the figurine the appearance of a genuine miniature ride vehicle.

Why Collectors Love It

Alice in Wonderland Attraction has an unusual appeal because it crosses several different areas of Disney collecting.

For Alice in Wonderland collectors, it offers something quite different from the more familiar character-based scenes. For Disney Parks collectors, the recreation of an actual Disneyland attraction vehicle gives the piece an additional connection to Disney history.

It is also a wonderfully colourful design, with the pink and purple Caterpillar contrasting beautifully against Alice's blue dress.

Its retired status and distinctive subject make it an interesting addition to an Alice collection, particularly for collectors looking for designs beyond the more commonly encountered Alice, Cheshire Cat and Mad Hatter figurines.

What I Love

What I love most about this piece is the fact that it captures an actual Disney attraction rather than simply recreating a scene from the film.  It brings Alice to life in our universe - and I just can't get enough of it!

The Caterpillar vehicle is such a wonderfully strange design, and I love the contrast between his thoroughly unimpressed expression and Alice looking absolutely delighted to be there!

There is also so much detail around the vehicle itself. The purples, pinks, scrollwork and geometric patterns make it interesting from every angle, rather than being a piece that only really works when viewed from the front.

Display Ideas

Alice in Wonderland Attraction makes a brilliant centrepiece for an Alice-themed collection because its wider shape gives it quite a different silhouette from traditional standing figurines.

Display ideas include:

  • At the centre of an Alice in Wonderland collection
  • Alongside the Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter and White Rabbit
  • As part of a Disney Parks or attraction-themed display
  • Against a pale or neutral background to highlight the purple and pink colours
  • Surrounded by whimsical props such as playing cards, teacups or miniature clocks
  • Alongside other Alice Disney Traditions pieces to create a miniature Wonderland scene

Alice in Wonderland Attraction is a particularly charming Disney Traditions design that combines Jim Shore's distinctive style with a little piece of Disneyland history.

With its colourful Caterpillar vehicle, beautifully sculpted Alice and unusual attraction theme, 6002412 is a lovely example of how Disney Traditions can capture not only Disney's characters, but the magic of the parks themselves. 💜🐛
