My Story
If you'd asked me a few years ago what I'd be doing today, I would almost certainly have said I'd still be working in corporate project management.
For more than twenty years, I built a career managing complex projects, leading teams and solving problems. It was a career I was very proud of, but after being made redundant, I found myself asking a question I'd never really had time to consider...
What do I actually love doing?
The answer came surprisingly quickly.
Disney.
Not just the films (although I can happily quote far too many!), but the artistry, craftsmanship and nostalgia behind the beautiful figurines that bring those stories to life.
Rather than searching for another corporate role, I decided it was time to take a leap of faith and build something that genuinely excited me.
That's how Collectable Figurines was born.
Why Disney?
I've loved Disney for as long as I can remember.
There's something magical about how a single figurine can instantly transport you back to your favourite film, remind you of a special holiday, or make you smile every time you walk past it.
Some people see ornaments.
I see stories.
I love discovering unusual pieces, researching their history, learning about retired collections and park exclusives, and helping collectors understand what makes certain figurines so special.
If I discover a figurine I didn't even know existed...
...I'll probably get just as excited as you would!
What Makes Collectable Figurines Different?
I don't simply buy and sell figurines.
Every piece is individually cleaned using nothing more than water and cotton buds, carefully inspected, photographed from every angle and honestly described.
If there's a flaw, I'll tell you.
If I don't know something, I'll research it.
If I discover an interesting fact about a figurine, there's a good chance it'll end up becoming a blog post!
I want collectors to buy with complete confidence, knowing exactly what they're receiving.
A Few Fun Facts...
Favourite Disney film: Beauty and the Beast (although Tangled is never far behind!)
Favourite thing to collect: Jim Shore Disney Traditions... but I have a soft spot for Disney Showcase too.
Favourite characters: Belle has always been a favourite, but I also love the Disney Villains. Their figurines are often some of the most dramatic and beautifully sculpted pieces Enesco has ever produced.
Best part of running the business: Hunting down unusual figurines that even experienced collectors may never have seen before.
Most dangerous hobby: Browsing Disney figurines online. I almost always find something else to add to my own wish list!
Coffee or tea? Tea. Always. If i'm feeling a little 'extra' a Yorkshire Biscuit Tea (look it up if you haven't tried it!)
Collector or seller? Definitely both! Selling helps fund the collecting... or at least that's what I keep telling myself!
Beyond the Figurines
When I'm not surrounded by bubble wrap and Disney figurines, you'll usually find me spending time with my family, walking our gorgeous Working Cocker Spaniel, reading, writing new blog posts or planning our next Disney adventure.
I genuinely love learning more about the hobby and sharing what I discover with other collectors.
